The Bob and JoAnn Martinez Scholarship for the Arts is dedicated to empowering the next generation of creative minds pursuing practical arts majors. Established in honor of my parents, who were proud members of Teamsters Local 70, this scholarship reflects my gratitude for the opportunities their hard work and dedication provided me as I embarked on my journey to become a filmmaker.
Mission
Committed to supporting the children of Teamsters Local 70, this scholarship aims to inspire young artists to chase their dreams while upholding the values of perseverance and community that define the Teamsters' legacy. Recipients will receive $1,250 and may be rewarded with the scholarship up to two times, encouraging continued growth and success in their artistic endeavors.
Vision
Over the next five to eight years, the goal is to establish a self-sustaining endowment for the Bob and JoAnn Martínez Scholarship for the Arts, enabling it to fund five $1,000 scholarships annually for deserving students. This endowment will ensure the scholarship’s longevity and expand its impact, providing ongoing support to the next generation of creative minds pursuing practical arts majors. The aim is to create a lasting legacy that honors the sacrifices of Teamsters Local 70 families while empowering young artists to pursue their dreams without financial barriers. This vision reflects a commitment to both the community and the arts, ensuring that future generations of students can continue to benefit from the opportunities made possible by hard work and dedication.
